iPhone 5 – More Internal Secrets Revealed

The poor iPhone 5 – it is getting torn to shreds before even seeing the light of day. The latest iPhone 5 leak details several of its internal components, ones we wouldn’t normally see in a pre-release splurge like this.

Photos claiming to be of Apple iPhone 5 parts have been spotted by AppleInsider. To those who don’t spend weekends taking apart gadgets with tiny screwdrivers, it may look like a broken pile of junk, but these parts are crucial to making to the iPhone 5 work. Here, we see the naked volume rocker, the new proximity sensor, the microSIM slot, the home buttons, the front cover and a metal plate that shields the rear of the phone, from inside. What kind of shielding? It’s likely to be to do with electromagnetic interference or, as AppleInsider suggets, heat shielding.

Is it all-change for the iPhone 5? Not quite. The front panel shows that while the screen may be a little longer, resulting in a 4in diagonal measurement, it’s still distinctly iPhone-like in its design.

The screen is one of the most drastic changes in the iPhone 5’s design, though, as the first time its size has been increased since the series started back in 2007. Other likely changes include a faster processor, improved camera and the inclusion of NFC. This stands for Near Field Communication – a wireless standard that’s commonly used for small payment transactions.

It’s just over a month until the iPhone 5’s supposed release date, on September 12. But with the thing already stripped bare, is there really all that much left to learn?
